Founded December 4, 1906, on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, Alpha Phi Alpha has played a significant role in the history of not only Black America but America as a whole by establishing a model that was utilized by the other collegiate Black Greek-letter org…

The 77th House (Gamma Mu Chapter) of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., located on the campus of Livingstone College in Salisbury, North Carolina, was founded February 27, 1947, by George L. Blackwell, Alfred Edwards, Andrew N. Gibson, Aaron Burr Jones, James Richard Rainbow, Oliver D. Summary, and Frank Reginald Brown who served as a long-time adviser to the Chapter.
Serving the campus of Livingstone College and the greater community of Salisbury, North Carolina, the Gamma Mu Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., not only produces great Brothers of the Fraternity, but most, notably, produces college educated men who go on to serve the larger community in their chosen fields of endeavor; thus fulfilling Fraternity’s mission statement.
